schnellfeuer wrote North only has a 4 loser hand, he knows south has at least 6 points, why did he not show some encouragement by jumping on his second bid or force a reply from south. If this was my regular partner he would be making the coffee for the next week or more.

schnellfeuer wrote 2C opening is a strong bid, either Acol or Benjamin two's. A 2D response is a relay giving opener another bid In Acol it denies an A and a K. Please ignore my earlier comment, too early in the morning for me, I messed up here.

schnellfeuer wrote @romey78, I agree he is a tad too strong, but he could have bid 2S after easts 2D, he was strong enough for that. It is all about partnership understanding, hard to do with an AI.

schnellfeuer wrote When playing at the table my partner and I never leave the opponents in 2 of a major doubled. Just for this reason, game made for just 8 tricks. A nice +470

schnellfeuer wrote A double after a 1NT opening showed a strong hand, so 2S by south was not too much of a gamble. Norths raise to 4S was good. Game made.

schnellfeuer wrote After souths bid of 1S followed by 3D, north has both clubs and hearts covered, so 3NT is now on. It is a matter of adding your hand to your partners. In answer to @val one of my books by an international player says, "Before you can be a good bridge player, you must accept being a bad player for 3 years."

schnellfeuer wrote It is always easier to overcall with a 2 suited hand, especially if you have a convention with partner. Norths opening should have been 2H, showing a weak hand 6 hearts and 2 of the top 4 honours.

schnellfeuer wrote After south has opened to show values, the 3H bid by west, although weak, takes up bidding space. North has a choice of just passing, but with 11 HCP and a void he has to keep the auction open as game may be missed. A double would show interest and ask for a second suit. South with no second suit would bid his spades again showing at least five and north with good values raises to 4S, where hopefully the auction ends. 4 spades makes 11 easily.
