Bajir wrote I just tried replaying as East, thinking it would be easy to make 6NT. Really tricky! Couldn't figure it out my first go.
Bajir wrote Really fun. On a diamond lead, pretty sure the only way for EW to make slam (even winning all 13 tricks) is to successfully finesse a spade. Trying to think how they might guess where the ♠J is....

Bajir wrote Nice @collar! Me too - wow that felt lucky. Basically went through all but one of the trumps hoping the discards might give a clue about whether I had a better chance turning the the SJ or the DQ into a winner. At some point West discarded a spade so was able to get four spade winners, winning 11 tricks total.

Bajir wrote Well put @JohnA!
Bajir wrote Good question @LauraLK! I stayed at the 2-level so definitely think I under-appreciated the strength of our 5-5 shape, something partner wouldn't have known about. Interesting hand.

Bajir wrote Fun to replay as East to find the best chance of winning all 13 - trying to figure out whether that 13th trick is most likely to be a spade or a diamond.

Bajir wrote Thought about going for slam, but missing 2 aces, didn't think we could pull it off. Had to take a minute to try to think where the K was. Figured more likely to be in West's hand, so played the Q from South and let it run. Had to lose to the ♠A but the rest ripe for the taking. Woohoo!!

Helen wrote @bajir @hagleyjazz No idea! I think it must have fallen off the back of a truck, because I certainly haven't been able to replicate it, even after replaying the hand about 73 times. However, I see that a few others have since done likewise, so maybe one of them can enlighten us all?
JOHNkib wrote @bajir @hagleyjazz Having won the 3rd trick with KH, N/S takes E's AS. East leads a trump (7C). N/S then clears all the trumps leaving North's remaining heart and spades as winners. Makes 10 tricks.
