Thanks @Graeme for these short morning (in Scotland!) tutorials. Really reinforce points and get the brain moving.

I think EW may not be bold enough .. going to look again to see if they ought to have bid 4S .. to which 5C might be good sacrifice ??

Nice little hand and top of the heap for a change. Of course, 3C only makes when the opposition doesn't find its five quick tricks... I have to say that as E, I would have led my doubleton KH, and that would have seen the contract two light, losing H AK, S AK, a H trumped and the C A.

Did not do well on this hand. Too many losers. EW missed an opportunity to play 4 S. NS had too many losers..

Who knew an intervening bid made responding to partner’s change of suit optional? As ever, @graeme has educated us on a subtle rule of bridge!

Learn something all the time, find your explanations great, especially when you talk about each bid, reasons why etc.

Pretty clever Graeme. I learned obligated to bid when partner changes suits. I wasn't smart enough to play out the clubs and make an extra diamond trick. I met a woman who played bridge with you in england. I'll get her full name and pass it on. She explained the way bridge is played in New Zealand. We are here in the Cape Cod area in Massachusetts.
